Compress Files to ZIP or GZIP

Create ZIP archives from multiple files or a whole folder, or produce a single .gz file—all locally in your browser. To open existing archives, use extract or browse the compression tools hub.

Drop an archive here or pick one from your computer.

Extract: ZIP and ZIP-based types (JAR, Android APK, iOS IPA, Office .docx/.xlsx/.pptx, Quake PK3/PKZ), uncompressed TAR, TAR.GZ / TGZ, and single-file GZIP (.gz).

Password-protected ZIP and formats like RAR or 7Z need a desktop app—we only handle what runs safely in the browser.

Create a ZIP from multiple files or an entire folder.

If you pick a folder, its structure is kept inside the ZIP. Browsers may ask for permission when reading folders.

Optional: single-file GZIP (.gz) — common on Mac/Linux servers.

FAQ

Is my data uploaded?

No. Processing happens locally in your browser. You can turn off Wi‑Fi after the page loads and it still works.

Why not RAR or 7Z?

Those formats usually need heavier decoders. For everyday Windows and Mac workflows, ZIP is the most common; we focus on ZIP plus TAR/GZIP that developers and servers use often.

Can I open password-protected ZIPs?

Not in this tool. Use 7-Zip, WinZip, or your system archive app for encrypted archives.
